Integrating HIV counseling and testing into family planning services is a valuable way to increase the range of services available for family planning clients, particularly in settings with a high HIV prevalence. Similarly, HIV counseling and testing services provide a strong opportunity to screen for unmet need for family planning and to offer a range of contraceptive methods to clients who wish to prevent pregnancy. The materials offer strategies for integrating family planning into HIV counseling and testing services and vice versa. Also available are a number of case studies, implementation tools, and research studies that document the feasibility, acceptability, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of this model of integration.
